For ADULTS 18 & OVER
I am qualified as an Integrative Psychotherapist, and I work in a pluralistic way because I can see value in the full diversity of many therapeutic approaches.
A key principle of pluralistic therapy is learning theory and skills from different modalities to offer a bespoke approach.
The bespoke aspect to my approach offers my clients the opportunity to experience different ways to deepen their self-awareness, explore their choices that can enhance their sense of autonomy and feel more in control which increases motivation and engagement.
I support my clients in exploring what is currently going on in their life and we may look at patters of behaviours, thinking, communicating and their responses to self and others. It might be helpful to look at early life events that contribute to the way they grew up in their family system.
This is a common human response to stress, most people can identify with anxiety when they are impacted by fear such as feeling uncertain about something happening, and stressful life events such as feeling under pressure of work-related stress/ family expectations. Anxiety is a physical response to our nervous system becoming activated by this pressure.
Many people experience a difficult childhood or experience difficult times growing up but may not be aware of the significance this can have on their sense of self, their communication, responses, or behaviours. Many people can feel disconnected, unlovable, have low self-worth due to their early life experiences, the messages they received in childhood and their attachment styles can prevent them from understanding healthy ways to be in their relationships.
We can experience loss when a person in our life is absent, a job ends, something changes in our health causing limitations in our mobility, pain or illness. When something is taken away from us it can bring on a sense of sadness.
Loss can turn into grief which is felt physically and emotionally causing psychologicaldistress such as sadness, confusion, guilt, anger or loneliness.
Bereavement is identified as a state of being while suffering from losing someone you know. There comes a time of mourning, often from the death of a loved one, someone you care about or had a difficult relationship with.
